Three landmark cases with references to many others still in full force and effect today. The most powerful of these cases is the Brown vs Texas regarding your right to your privacy and the police prohibition of arresting someone for remaining silent and refusing to identify themselves. However, operating a motor vehicle is one such occasion where you must show your documents. You do not though, have to say a word! I personally remember when this case came out around 1979. In the City of Hollywood we had an ordinance that you had to produce your identification to a Police Officer upon demand. If you didn't you were subject to arrest on the spot! After this case came out the City removed the law in its' entirety! Mark one up for the people.
